LineAgn - Development and implementation of species-specific bait for the longline fleet

The LineAgn project will develop an effective, affordable, and environmentally friendly alternative to today's imported bait.

The longline fleet is facing high and unstable bait prices, while the availability of natural bait is limited. The goal is to optimize and test formulated baits based on vegetable matrices and marine by-products, so that their catch efficiency is as good as that of traditional bait.

The project involves work on scent release, texture, production processes, tank trials, and sea trials aboard autoline vessels. A successful product could significantly reduce bait costs, improve the fleet's profitability, and reduce dependence on imported bait.

The project is funded through FHF's Project in Company scheme.
