Sustainable Ocean and Coast

Møreforsking operates in a region rich in marine resources, and our research is closely connected to the ecosystems of the ocean and coastal zone.

We generate new knowledge that strengthens the understanding of ecosystems and biodiversity, promotes gentle and environmentally responsible harvesting and cultivation practices, supports circular resource use, and contributes to improved management of marine environments. Our research spans a broad range of disciplines—from biological studies of single fish species and low-trophic organisms such as molluscs, crustaceans, echinoderms, corals, and algae, to the development of trap-based fishing gear and sustainable feed ingredients. Through this work, we help advance the marine industries and lay the groundwork for responsible utilization of the ocean's opportunities—today and for the future.
