Havbunnsrydding og biodiversitet – fra opprydding til målbar miljøeffekt

Målet med prosjektet er å utvikle og teste en operativt anvendbar tilnærming for å dokumentere miljøeffekter av havbunnsrydding, og avklare hvordan slik dokumentasjon kan inngå som en del av Rewild Norge sitt tjenestetilbud.

Rewild Norge arbeider med å fjerne tapte fiskeredskaper og annet marint avfall fra havbunnen. I dette prosjektet utvikler vi en mer systematisk tilnærming til å dokumentere miljøeffektene av havbunnsrydding.

Gjennom en pilotstudie ved Valderøya samler vi inn og analyserer data før, under og etter opprydding i to ulike havbunnsområder. Målet er å undersøke hvordan etablert forskningsmetodikk kan brukes til å dokumentere og synliggjøre effekten av ryddearbeidet på en etterprøvbar måte.

Prosjektet skal gi et kunnskapsgrunnlag for å integrere effektmåling og rapportering i Rewild Norges tjenestetilbud. Dette vil bidra til økt innsikt i verdien av havbunnsrydding og styrke arbeidet for renere og mer robuste marine økosystemer.
